Block Cheddar Powder

This is exciting! Our latest vegan cheese product. Make your own vegan block cheese at home. It will even slice and melt. 

Each package is 120 grams will make 1kg of sliceable block cheese.



Step 1.

Add 1.5 cups of water (or plain soy or rice milk) and 3/4 cup of refined coconut oil to a medium size pot and bring to a simmer. Make sure the coconut oil is fully melted before proceeding to the next step.

Step 2

Add 1/2 cup of block cheddar powder mix to the pot and stir with a whisk until it is fully blended. Keep stirring and allow this to simmer for about 5 minutes. It needs to simmer for about 5 minutes for the ingredients to activate. It should get thick as your heating so make sure so scrape the sides and bottom of the pot to avoid sticking and burning. 

Step 3. 

Remove from heat and allow to cool down for about 10-15 minutes, Be careful not to leave much longer or it will start to set in your pot. 

Step 4.

This stage is transferring your vegan block cheese to a mould for it to solidify. We suggest using a silicone bread pan. If you are using a metal pan or springform pan we suggest lining it with a cheese cloth or plastic wrap. It will make it much easier to remove the cheese once it hardens. Once you have poured your cheese mixture into the mould allow it to cool at room temperature for about an hour. Then cover and place in the fridge. In about 8-12 hours you will have vegan block cheese that you can slice and shred. Simply remove your block cheese from the mould and enjoy. Keep wrapped in plastic for freshness. Will keep in your fridge for about 7-10 days.


*If you wish to shred your vegan cheese we suggest putting it in the freezer for an hour or so and then shredding it once it is harder. You can also toss your cheese shreds in either corn starch and potato starch and freeze the shreds. The starch will prevent them from sticking to each other.
